Experience
I am a people person who pays strict attention to detail, while still seeing the big picture. I possess clear organizational skills and pride myself on being on time or early to appointments and other functions. I possess intermediate skills in American Sign Language, and will have obtained a Career Studies Certificate in American Sign Language from CVCC at the end of the Fall 2009 Semester. I’m currently pursuing a degree in the fields of Psychology and Sociology, with a goal of double majoring. While still in grade school, I served four consecutive years as Group Leader for children's Vacation Bible School in Fredericksburg, Virginia. I have always had patience with children, and an ability to explain things to others as I understand them. In addition, I personally overcame obstacles in learning as a child, as I was diagnosed with ADHD (which I have since outgrown). In this way, I feel I can reach other students who may be struggling in certain areas, as I understand the difficulty behind the matter. So far in my College career, I have successfully completed English 111, Psychology 200, Sociology 200, ASL 101 and 102 (and the requisite Orientation to College), all with an A grade, so my cumulative GPA is 4.0 . I will continue to further my education, and I am currently working on an Associate's Degree from CVCC (Central Virginia Community College). In my professional career, I have been employed at all levels of customer service, including being promoted to General Manager in charge of operations of a major retail jewelry store in Northern Virginia. This exemplifies my leadership ability, and my organizational skills. I also worked as the only Human Resources Manager for another major retail chain, and in the medical field at an Optometrist's and Opthalmologist's office handling confidential files- both jobs proving my trustworthiness in handling sensitive personal information. My tutoring strenghts lie in my aptitude for English, as well as a strong interest in and knowledge of Psychology. Moreover, my study of American Sign Language has sparked an interest in pursuing a career as an interpreter after graduation. This would be an excellent area to employ me in, however it is not currently an option I could choose to display from this website. I would be more than happy to discuss this subject as well, should you so choose to do so.
